Nile Princess Collection

knowing that my time in Uganda was coming to an end for now, I felt compelled to design a collection that would forever echo my memories of the beautiful river Nile which it is claimed, has its source in Jinja, Uganda.

A visit to the picturesque countryside of jinja proved once again to me why Uganda was aptly named"pearl of Africa" by winston churchill.
Winston Churchill became quite enthused about what he found in Uganda that he wrote “For magnificence, for variety of form and color, for profusion of brilliant life — bird, insect, reptile, beast — for vast scale — Uganda is truly “the Pearl of Africa.”

Coming back from my brief visit to Jinja, I felt inspired to capture some of the essence of the source of the nile in a collection. Nile princess is therefore a culmination of my experiences. The collection was a mix of fresh ,vibrant hues of a land of perpetual sunshine. Nature was ably represented in my choice of earthy tones such as greens and browns . The beautiful elements such as waterfalls and the golden Ugandan sunsets can also be seen in the crystals used in some of the pieces.

After 3 months spent creating the collection, I decided on a photoshoot to celebrate. Naturally I wanted east african beauties as models and the ravishing trio of Haben Kidane, Nikita Lacour and Leah Kagasa. Body placement and artistic direction was by Emolsa Hasacha and photography was by ILove studio Uganda.

This shoot was a great way to to document my final days in Uganda. It was truly an honour serving the bespoke jewellery industry in Uganda. Thanks for having me Uganda and see you again in the not too distant future.
